An ongoing project…

‘Landlocked’

Growing up in the Midlands, I’ve always been at least a two-hour drive from the sea. Going to the seaside for a day trip when I was younger felt like I was off to Disneyland at the time (who needs Paris when you have SkegVegas?!).

To be honest, it still has that effect on me now. The bright colours, the smell of sea air, and the promise of a chippy tea make for a perfect day out.

This project feels especially personal, as I’m dedicating this series to my Dad, who I lost very early on in my adulthood. He’s where I got my spontaneous streak from—and my love for travel. Some of my fondest memories of him are the days we spent together when he’d suddenly suggest a spontaneous five-hour round trip to the sea for a cheeky Spoons and a walk on the beach (sorry if you’re reading this, Greta).

Here’s to you, my old man. x
